On Sunday there was a wildfire caused by a machine gun fire. Here's how it went on Sunday:
When we left to go to Mama's and Papa's house at 3:30, We saw tons of smoke on the other side of the mountain. Then when we got to their house we were watching the news and it said Camp Williams was doing gun testing on a "red flag" day (or red card day... something like that...) and there were sparks that caught bushes and weeds on fire. But at that time we weren't too worried. So after dinner and desert, we left to go home. Now there was more smoke so I got REALLY scared."What if our house burns down? WA!!!" When we got home Dad went to go talk to neighbors that were outside talking. Then our neighbor, Rex, 3 houses up from us, his son is a fireman and he said they had zero control over it and it should be over the ridge in an hour. So most of our neighbors went to go build a fire line to protect the top houses. But then we suddenly saw red smoke, peeking up from the ridge, then bright red flames. All at once everyone started panicking and packing up family pics, birth certificates, and things that could never be replaced. Mom was at work, Dad was hyperventilating, (no one knows how to spell that...) I was freaking out which made the other kids freak out, and deer and other animals were jolting down the burning mountain. It looked just like a volcano, because the fire was all the way down the mountain in 15 minutes. Anna, Ryan, Mama, Kendra, and Chad were there to help us load all our important stuff. We left our house, kissing them goodbye.

Later that night, Mom and Dad saw a youtube video that showed a house that looked exactly like our house burning. But Ryan said our whole street was safe... for now... Then on Monday afternoon, Mom, Dad, and Tory went to Herriman High school where the Red Cross was set up. And right when they stepped through the door, our neighbor, across the street and up one, were just leaving and they said that they are letting everyone that lives on Fort Pierce Way to go and check their houses out. And Ryan was right. All the houses on our street were just fine. The fire stopped right at the fire line, about 100 ft from the top house across the street. But Rex, who has a GINORMOUS yard, had fire through his yard, but it didn't hurt his house or grass. (But it did burn some of his lanterns he has along his little pathways up the mountain.)
But everythings okay now. We're having people come clean everything to get that smokey air out of our house... they're even taking our clothes and dry cleaning them! My Heavenly Father must be watching over me, my family, and our neighbors who also kissed their houses goodbye. Now we're all safe from fire for at least 3 years... but I'm not so sure what will happen in the spring when there's only mud... but all of our neighbors are talking about getting plants and planting them along the mountain. I'll even use my own $ if I have to... (you like the dollar sign instead of the word money?)

Wow, scary! I'm so glad you're all okay, and that nothing happened to your house/yard. Way to have faith and be grateful to God! Love ya!
PS - Totally loved the "$" sign instead of "money"... you're so hip. :)
It was quite the trip! You were a big help to dad...until you had your break down! :D (That's okay...fire coming toward your house is a great time to panic!)
Love you, Syd...And I'm proud of you for thinking of prayer, and recognizing His help!
Well, even though the fire sucked....I LOVED having a sleepover with everyone!
Good story. I love hearing the story from your perspective. It's amazing to hear how much faith such a young lady can have. Also how fast you are willing to sacrifice your own $ to help something you know is right! Way to go Syd!
